Snowflake Challenge Day 5

In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them.

Ok I'm relatively new to dreamwidth and still trying to find communities here, so if anyone has an recs, please suggest them in the comments.

• The detroitbecomehuman community here has been pretty active and we're about to have a Valentine's Day fest! So I'm looking forward to that!
• The symbrock community is also really active and very fun!
• wewritevictuuri over on tumblr is a really supportive community of yoi writers with an accompanying discord server!
•  OCtober is a really fun community on pillowfort for posting about OC's in october!
• Sleepover is a great community on pillowfort for getting to know new people
• And I absolutely love the Poetry_Place community on pillowfort!  Many great poets over there!

Ooo! I haven's seen many pillowfort comms rec'ced. All three of those grab my interest - but ESPECIALLY the last. It's so good to see that poetry found its niche there.

Yes I love the poetry community! It’s small but great! That’s how found out about octpowrimo this past year, which was a really great experience!

I love the idea of octpowrimo! The month is my busiest of the year, though. I don't think it's possible to jam another month long commitment in. BUT - knowing that it exists means I can keep a look out for others' work. So thank you. :)

I definitely didn’t finish but I’m pretty sure they also have another month in April, I’m going to try to do that too

Oh! Now, April dovetails perfectly with my plans - since it's National Poetry Month, I will post a poem a day [generally not my own] in April. I'm also planning on sending out haiku postcards for those who want them. So I will keep an eye on the poetry comm!

Yeah back in October, we talked about posting poetry month poems in the comm so I don't think it will be in addition to that! I've never tried doing national poetry month before, so sorry for any confusion

National Poetry Month is more of a designation than a challenge. It was created in 1996... hang on. HERE is the info on it. The way I've celebrated it is by sharing the work of other poets on my journal. Generally, a poem or two of my own sneaks in. I'm trying to be a bit more creatively pro-active this year, with the mailer haikus. And I have an 'at least 12 new poems' goal for the year. So...

Oh! Thank you for the info! I just started interacting with the poetry community online this past year, so this is all new to me. I looked up what we were talking about and it was Napowrimo - where there's a prompt to write a poem for every day in April as a way to celebrate national poetry month - here's the link to their faq http://www.napowrimo.net/faq/

Octpowrimo is set up the same way, just a different month
